Jumping in the Deep End!

After thinking about starting a blog the time has come to actually start writing! This past weekend I spent on retreat at a wonderful facility, Emilie's Haus.

Kay and Jack are great hosts, the rooms are lovely, and the sewing room looks out over the hill country.

This was the view from the porch of the sewing room.  The weather started out cool but warmed up over the 4 days we were there.

The lighting in the sewing room was very good so working on my handwork was easy even after the sun set.

Jacqui setting up her sewing area.

Karin finished her Charleston quilt top from Bonnie Blue, Fran finished her Wine and Cheese quilt (pattern from Open Gate) and Jacqui worked on several different sets of blocks and got all the blocks set for a scrap quilt she cut from her stash (can't remember which quilt it is but it's from Simple Strategies for Scrap Quilts by Lynn Roddy Brown).

I only got a photo of Karin's top (sorry Fran and Jacqui).

Although I love reproductions, what I worked on the entire retreat were yo-yos.  I am working on the Amy Butler Designs Bloom quilt for DD1's college graduation quilt (I have until May to get this done!).

The beginning of the 486 yo-yos!! I got 159 done on the retreat. 337 more to go! The pattern is for a twin size quilt but DD1 has asked for a full/queen size which increased the number of yo-yos I need to make.
So there will be many more yo-yo posts before I am able to get back to reproduction projects.
